Recently, the CHSS Junior Boys volleyball team hosted their annual Elementary School Invitational tournament in our large gym with two of our feeder schools, Huron Centennial and Seaforth Public School. This fun round robin tournament is part of our school’s plan to help local grade 6, 7, and 8 students make the transition from elementary to secondary school. Hopefully, this event will help them prepare for the jump to CHSS that they will have to make in the next few years, for some as early as next September.
This year’s CHSS Junior Boys Volleyball team has 12 players that used to play for Seaforth and Huron Centennial, so they were excited to play against their old schools. Throughout the morning we saw lots of good digs, sets, spikes, and serves as the teams battled it out on the volleyball court. Although no one beat the CHSS team, there were lots of great plays made by the young lads from Seaforth and Huron Centennial that prove that some of them will be ready to try out for next year’s CHSS team.
We would like to thank Mr. Kuiper, Lexi Cook, Elanna Wicks, and Kelsey Cameron for taking all the pictures, the student’s council for supplying some prizes, and the Junior Boys Volleyball team for being referees, scorekeepers, linesmen and positive ambassadors for CHSS. We are proud of them all!
