Third Annual CHSS Photography Show

Submissions are now being accepted for the 3rd Annual Photography Show! Submit the highest resolution photo that you have. You can submit your photo online (The upload password is "photoshow") or you can submit a CD to the office with your contact and file information. Once you have sent them, please make sure to send a follow up email to Mrs. Vercruyssen, indicating what images are yours, what title you would like to have on them in the show, your full name, if you are a student/staff/alumni/community member or parent and your email address. Submission deadline is May 3rd! This show is open to all students, staff, alumni, parents and community members.

Grade 8 Parent Night

The grade 8 Parent Night will be scheduled for Tuesday, January 15th and the snowdate will be Wed. Jan. 16th. There will be a spaghetti dinner held in the cafeteria from 5:00 pm until 6:00pm, and then we will proceed to the gym to hear our school band as well as a welcome from the administration. The remaining night's activities will be organized here and will conclude at about 8:30 with a reception in the cafeteria.

Inclement Weather Procedure

As the weather continues to change, it won't be long before we have our first inclement weather event in the CHSS community. When poor weather threatens and we might decide to cancel buses and/or close the school, you'll find all of the information you need at www.ourschoolbuses.ca, www.yourschools.ca, @CentralHuronSS (on Twitter), and local radio stations. We will try to get our information to all of those places before 6:45 am.

Parent / Teacher Interviews and School Council

Thursday evening is a perfect time to visit CHSS. Parents will have an opportunity from 6:00 - 8:00 to speak with their child's teachers. Students should be signing up for an appointment slot with their individual teachers.

There will also be the frst meeting this school year of the School Council at 7:30 in the library. All parents are welcome to attend for the opportunity to find out more about what is happening at CHSS and to have a voice in school matters.

From the Office...

Parents, please remember to send in $35.00 student fee with your son/daughter, along with the signed Emergency Contact Form and In-town Walking Permission Form (for field trips in Clinton).  Your son/daughter should have received these forms on the first day of school.

Grade 9 Orientation

Orientation and a welcome to the school for grade nines will be on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 12:00 a.m. Parents are welcome to join. There will be a hotdog lunch provided at the end.

We have been asked by the Ontario Ministry of Education to provide you and your student(s) with the 
opportunity to take part in a provincial survey regarding the implementation of the First Nation, Metis, and Inuit Policy Framework in Ontario schools. The Framework supports schools by providing better access, for all students, to the most current information on the history, culture, and links to Canada’s development of our Aboriginal population and to increase awareness of our ongoing relationship through Treaties and partnerships. 

The Framework also provides support for the board to address achievement gaps of Aboriginal students, to improve their self-esteem and to encourage greater engagement in education. 

The survey is being conducted by an outside agency, Cathexis Consulting. This survey should take 
approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. If you are willing to participate please go to:

Hello Parents

It's hard to believe, but it will be time to start wrapping things up for our 2011-2012 school year.

If you've never come to a meeting, this is one to come to. There will be food and refreshements, a summary of the year, and the latest news for next year.
It will be a very short, informal meeting.

Date: Wednesday May 30 - 6pm—food—(bribery—please plan to come). The location to be determined by the weather—save the date and stay tuned.
