A page devoted to whatever seems to be of interest to me. (Yes, I know it's narcissistic, but isn't that one of the great benefits of the Internet and self-publishing?)
Hello. Welcome to The Kuiper Belt, a place for news and musings that are of interest primarily to.....well.....me! You may be wondering about the title of this space, The Kuiper Belt. "The Kuiper Belt is a disk-shaped region past the orbit of Neptune extending roughly from 30 to 50 AU from the Sun containing many small icy bodies. It is now considered to be the source of the short-period comets" (http://www.nineplanets.org/kboc.html). Essentially, it is a region of space from which objects seem to be drawn at random. It's way out there and doesn't always seem relevant, but it has the potential for serious impact. I hope you find the postings of interest, and please feel free to comment. (Comments are moderated).
I've created this as an experiment in mixing spoken word with music in Audacity. Vivaldi can take credit for the music, but the photo and poem are mine. Click on the "Fossil Poem" icon above to hear the audio.
Sometimes the most interesting shots happen when you make a mistake. With photography, like anything else, you can get caught in a routine or you can be too focused on getting the technical details right. Having something go wrong can—like leaving the flash off in a very dark room during a dance—can open our eyes to creative opportunities.

I am beginning to take more of an interest in black and white photography, and I thought that a cemetery might be a good subject. This cemetery is in Hullett on Conservation Line, just down the road from where I grew up. I travelled past it hundreds of times, but only just recently have I bothered to spend some time there.
